Synesthete Learning Platform
Teaching Music with Visual Adis
After reading the Superhuman Mind by Berit Brogaard PhD and Kristian Marlow MA, I was inspired to build an app (https://djoq.github.io/synaesthete-learning/#/pitch-vue) where ideas for learning aids will live. Recently, I have been increasingly focused on art and music, and bridging these experiences into technology I feel is a positive movement. I have been fine tuning my pitch recognition and using a couple apps on iOS that assist in training your ear to improve musical ability. These apps help, but I wanted to take it a step further.
The book mentioned above explains how synesthetes often have a natural association of notes or tones to a visual color they will see in their mind when they hear a given note. This is common with savants and people with perfect pitch sometimes see the world in such a manner. For those who do not have perfect pitch or savant abilities, I wrote a simple app to train the brain to associate musical notes/tones to a specific color, and took it a step further to model the chakra centers of the body to the musical notes in the C scale. The repository is available here for any programmers out there https://github.com/djoq/synaesthete-learning.
Please do get in touch with me if you have other ideas for assisting in abstract learning methods for music, mathematics or anything else, or let me know what you think of the concept.
